@audreytruschke What's the story behind Akbar coming with his own religion? Was it an attempt to create a new, uniform culture for ease of governance?

@hackiechan I'm so glad you asked.

The din-i ilahi has long been portrayed in popular culture as a new religion invented by Akbar religion, but it was not. Scholars are in pretty solid agreement that this was a discipleship program meant to bind intimidates to the king. It perhaps never exceed a dozen or so members. It involved some ethical precepts but was really about imperial authority.

@audreytruschke Ahh! Interesting. That's some major myth-busting.
So could it be called an indoctrination, conditioning program to ensure loyalty from his key advisers? Or maybe develop a uniform value system/ code of ethics among them? Or something more like the freemasons or maybe the Illuminati?
