Will the judges decide to give the land to one party? Could they do what the Allahabad High Court did and split the land? Or could they say that nobody has established title, meaning govt gets to decide what to do?

8. CJI says the #AYODHYAVERDICT is unanimous. And that it'll take half an hour to read it out. @[email protected]

9. First thing the five judge bench announces is that an appeal by the Shia Waqf Board (not the Sunni Waqf Board, a main party to the dispute) has been dismissed.

Shia Board had tried a case in the 1940s over this, had tried here again to raise claims over the site. @[email protected]

Nirmohi Akhara's suit declared as barred by limitation.

Also, they are not the shebaits for worship of Lord Ram and the Ram Mandir, test of exclusive rights of management not fulfilled. @[email protected]

#RamJanmbhoomi declared not to be a juristic person - along with Ram Lalla, the land itself has claimed to be a deity with legal personhood and was recognised as such by the Allahabad High Court.

Court says ASI report notes existence of non-Islamic structure at site which predates the mosque, but doesn't include a finding that a temple was destroyed to build the #BabriMasjid

Suit for possession by Sunni Waqf Board is NOT barred by limitation. Limitation period was 12 years (Section 142 Limitation Act), so was filed within permissible time period. @[email protected]

15. But the Sunni Waqf Board claim of adverse possession isn't satisfied as documentary evidence shows Hindus were not barred from going to the site prior to 1857. @[email protected]

16. #AYODHYAVERDICT :

Muslims have not been able to establish possessory title to inner courtyard.

Hindus have shown unimpeded access to outer courtyard.

Muslims did not abandon mosque. @[email protected]

Centre to set up trust to deal with the disputed site.

Hindus showed possession of outer courtyard. Muslims couldn't show exclusive access to the inner courtyard before 1857. @[email protected]

Muslims to be allotted five acres elsewhere, can build a mosque. Destruction of #BabriMasjid was against rule of law. @[email protected]
