I know it's late, but it's Friday and with the #Ayodhyaverdict coming down tomorrow, let's do a quick round of questions.

Anything you want to know about the Ramayana -- Ask away. I'll answer the first 5 questions that come in. #history #MastodonThread #publichistory #Ramayana

@audreytruschke If I want to read a Sanskrit plus English transliteration of Valmiki Ramayana, which book should I look at? -Thanks; Also, secular commentary and fun facts.

@apveng Q: Best Sanskrit and English editions of Valmiki's Ramayana?

A: The Goldmans/Pollock translation of the critical edition of the Ramayana is the best literal English rendering. The Clay editions of book 1-5, I believe, have transliterated Sanskrit en face.

@audreytruschke Thank you. The Goldman/Pollock ones don't seem to be available in Kindle yet. May have to wait for that. The clay library is a real find. They seem to have a lot of Sanskrit works. (And there is kindle).
