I posted this few months ago on #birdsite but didn't get much response. Would love hear your thoughts-
Fight against fake majoritarian victimhood is an uphill task considering the polarisation of Indian MSM. This fight has to be strategised on grassroot level. SM platforms especially WA/FB/ Twitter will play a big role in spreading awareness about real history & neutralising propaganda. Imaginary victimhood by Hindutva leaders is difficult to challenge, but can be countered by getting experts +
2. to do short video clips on real history & spreading them on WA/FB groups. India does NOT read, we have to accept this fact. Platforms like WA/FB will have fill to the gap. The messaging cannot be just reactive or election cyclic, it is an ongoing process. It should not come across as sermonising & should be succinct. It could talk about random history events which make sense & clarify myths- similar to an old Ram Puniyani video. I remember how he destroys the myth about Shivaji being just a+
3. Hindu leader & saving Hinduism against Islam. People like Dhruv Rathee & Ravish Kumar already play a key role in neutralising propaganda on current affairs & talking about real issues. These blurbs could play a role in countering fake history about independence/partition/british/mughals etc & could also talk about context of our constitution. I know it is difficult to have a dialogue with society that is full of hatred towards a religion. But not doing anything is definitely not an option.
@nikhil_thatte I think what is most important is to project through every public utterance and in every private interaction with family bhakts how victimhood is a total losers' option. 'Do you want to stay stuck in your self-pity trip while the world marches ahead?' If we get this kind of message across, many will join us in re-visiting and understanding our own culture and history.
@scharada My intention is to scale the message & not keep it just within the family, friend circle. Clearly that approach has not worked, considering the amount of bhakts India has today. I (want to) believe there would be a big chunk of good Indians who should get to hear the real history of partition, mughals etc & not the saffronised version of Whatsapp.
@nikhil_thatte I completely agree. Have tried to do this through my books. The Hanuman Heart was meant to reclaim Hanuman as a symbol of love and courage. I wrote Bol Bam: Approaches to Shiva trying to examine my own faith and what it meant for me and my countrymen. I lived in and wrote about Ayodhya - luckily this was translated into Hindi as Ayodhya ki Tasveerein. Combating the Sangh on cultural matters has always been a dream.

@scharada Unfortunately, nobody reads anymore. The message will need a AV format which can be viewed & shared easily.

For. e.g. A short video on "Panipat" explaining facts of the 3rd battle & the role of Kings/Kingdoms before release of the movie can go a long way in prepping people about reality of the war & educating them how it was not a Hindu vs Muslim battle. Bcoz not even 1% of Indians will make an effort to find history book to read & will rely on tinted history presented by Bollywood.

@nikhil_thatte Songs, slogans, short videos are the way to go. I think the tide may soon turn in our favour as people are tiring of everything being presented in Hindu-Muslim terms by shrill TV channels. But they lack alternative content, and the Sanghi stranglehold on media is presently so strong.
@scharada I don't see tide turning anytime soon. Things will go lot worse before they get any better.
@nikhil_thatte In any case we are stuck for quite a while. This was election year. Unless there is an actual revolution 😀
@scharada @nikhil_thatte they have huge funding to push their narrative and that's what we lack. All current social media doesn't allow you organic growth and exposure of your content to all your followers.
@Vishsai @scharada That is exactly why short video clips can be uploaded & fwd on WA & FB

@nikhil_thatte @scharada we don't have money to game the system but can't we do a collaboration with our tech guys and find a way where we can game it.

We will need to organise locally also but would require a different banner to unite the diverse opinions.

@Vishsai @nikhil_thatte This is definitely the way forward. Let's build such collaborations in coming days.
