I posted this few months ago on #birdsite but didn't get much response. Would love hear your thoughts-
Fight against fake majoritarian victimhood is an uphill task considering the polarisation of Indian MSM. This fight has to be strategised on grassroot level. SM platforms especially WA/FB/ Twitter will play a big role in spreading awareness about real history & neutralising propaganda. Imaginary victimhood by Hindutva leaders is difficult to challenge, but can be countered by getting experts +
2. to do short video clips on real history & spreading them on WA/FB groups. India does NOT read, we have to accept this fact. Platforms like WA/FB will have fill to the gap. The messaging cannot be just reactive or election cyclic, it is an ongoing process. It should not come across as sermonising & should be succinct. It could talk about random history events which make sense & clarify myths- similar to an old Ram Puniyani video. I remember how he destroys the myth about Shivaji being just a+
3. Hindu leader & saving Hinduism against Islam. People like Dhruv Rathee & Ravish Kumar already play a key role in neutralising propaganda on current affairs & talking about real issues. These blurbs could play a role in countering fake history about independence/partition/british/mughals etc & could also talk about context of our constitution. I know it is difficult to have a dialogue with society that is full of hatred towards a religion. But not doing anything is definitely not an option.
