But I always knew what Modi was like. I was part of the Times of India Ahmedabad team that covered the 2002 riots. Every awful story you have heard is true. It was planned, it was vicious, it was controlled by the government. The police stood by. The rioters had lists of who to attack from sales tax and excise departments. Those camps are etched in my memory even though sometimes I want to forget them.
@ranjona In some ways the Ayodhya verdict scares me, if it goes against their wishes as it will give them an opportunity to create the same scenario across India.
@Vishsai
Yes, but I fear they are more devious now. They will continue the war of attrition.

@ranjona Think that was the original plan but the sinking economy has thrown a spanner into their plans and now they would require something big to kick-start it again.
The reaction to Kashmir showed how much subdued we have become.

I sincerely do hope I am wrong. But it's something we need to prepare for. We have better communication system. Just need a plan for the worst case scenario to save life's.

@ranjona I’ve read the book by Rana Ayyub when she did a sting op on those officials involved, I was horrified to realise the regular middle class upper middle class educated folk were the ones who allowed it to happen.
@siri_resist
They looted the shops and restaurants while rioters attacked Muslim-owned enterprises!
@ranjona It was traumatic to just read, I can only imagine those who lived and have seen it. It’s a shame no one knows the reality of Modi at least those who voted blindly for him in 2014 and were still sane, but just angry with congress. There’s an evil inside of him, one can see it clearly in his vendetta politics
@siri_resist
Don't you feel some of them voted for him because of the riots? the BJP-sena came to power in Maharashtra post the Babri-Masjidf riots.
@ranjona I do feel and agree, those who voted anti congress in 2014 but were still sane have well become brainwashed right wing hate channels in the next five years, 2019 elections was just an approval of 2002 carnage and Ayodhya massacre plus the mob lynchings murders and rapes that continued since 2014.
@ranjona I’ve seen one of those Modi 2002 Gujarat speeches, the man is truly evil, I had nightmares of that speech! I mean, he should have been be tried at Hague for what he did in 2002 itself.
@ranjona That was the tipping point. The state made it clear that it was no longer going to even pretend to be neutral. Those who point out the lack of riots post 2002 would do well to remember this. The courts too played their part.
@ranjona Is there a book, report or something that I can read about the details of 2002 riots? I have only read of it in bits and pieces. Did anyone publish or release an entire account of what went down?
@ranjona do not forget and never forgive.
@ranjona what should a common men do if this happens ..? Should we let them kill us or we fight back and kill them ..? That will lead to civil war.
@Slave_of_allah
I have no answer although i understand exactly what you are saying.
@ranjona if we fight back we are terrorist and what not . And if we get caught we will rot in jail forever . But if it happens in my surroundings. I will fight back without fearing anything.
@ranjona
Rajdeep even tried to put it mildly in his book
Met him at my school while he was promoting another book and asked him the same
He just smiled, slightly tilted his head in agreement (i assume) and left
@Pranavgupta the less said about "neutrals" like him the better.
