I set up a private Mastodon instance for my family using the fabulous @mastohost because I wont use Facebook and we want to share our news and pics. One of my sibs has put forward the argument that it's all very well to have a private social network for the fam, but what about the unofficial mobile apps that are made by open source devs who could go rogue and could be secretly plundering our content and data! Jeebus. How best to put that argument back in it's box 🤷‍♂️
