@freon @mewmew @pie Well if you want privacy, Telegram isn't want your want because the security is seriously lax and everything goes to The Cloud.
But compared to stuff like Discord, Google Hangouts, … the client is libre software and API got a specification so you can get a bit of control.

But it's far from what you get with IRC, XMPP, current Fedi, …
