Hello to the community! If you are LGBTQ or otherwise marginalized by virtue of your intersectional standpoint and are in need of HOUSING:

I have some knowledge in how the housing system works in the United States regarding low-income housing, and I can help point you towards local resources. It's not much, and there's no guarantee there are resources available, but oftentimes there are and they're just a little hard to find if you don't know what you're looking for.

Anyway, let me know!

@socialskeleton you should look at #KCTenants. Purely out of interest. You might like what we're doing. https://kctenants.org/

We are the citywide tenant union in Kansas City, an organization led by a multiracial, multigenerational base of poor and working class tenants in Kansas City. KC Tenants organizes to ensure that everyone in KC has a safe, accessible, and truly affordable home.

@teslas_moustache wow, very cool! I love the platform. My only advice is to take an abridged form of your solutions page and slap that bad boy across the screen as the very first thing visitors see. It wasn't clear to me as a reader exactly what your organization wanted or was for until I found that PDF. Advocacy? Resource provision? Political action? All of the above? The PDF shows that your goal is to influence city council decisions for X goals.

Loved it!!

@socialskeleton yeah, they've been going at it from a policy angle, which gives me a migraine tbh. But the will is fucking there, man. We're getting shit done. We're imagining a world free of landlords and working toward that dream.

A Tenant's Bill of Rights ought to be dropping soon.

A friend and I worked on a Tenant's Declaration of Autonomy document separately, which was fun. Apparently folks found it useful in thinking about what we really want here.

@socialskeleton where is the solutions page? I'm actually not that familiar with the website. I justshow up to meetings and stuff.
@teslas_moustache page two of the PDF of the platform
@socialskeleton ah. I just didn't see the link. Sometimes I wonder if DarkReader causes more problems than it solves.
@teslas_moustache omg I had to disable it too!! Dark theme comrades <3
