First-best option: open-source the app, and have it on F-Droid
Second-best-option: just put an apk on your own website

I'm sure you can think of other options before arriving at the Google Play store, since many likely pay for ProtonMail/ProtonVPN products partly because they want to stay away from companies such as Google
