So who else is on @djs.social ? I'm pretty new to mastadon as a whole, so are we all automatically connected? Or do I have to find everyone and follow them? I see no lists and it's all pretty quiet. I figured there'd be more music and music chat etc?

@Martin_J The instance has about 200 users right now (the @user_count bot does daily updates on this). There is no list of users for privacy reasons but you can see all the posts in the local timeline of the instance. You are only ‘connected’ to the people you follow, just like , and those people’s posts go in your home timeline.

@Martin_J Compared to  it can be a bit quiet especially since the instance is currently small but  is about contributing, not just following, so it’s up to everyone to help build up the content over time.

@damien ta for the update there. I thought that if you joined an instance you were part of the group kinda like a FB group

@Martin_J In a way we are, because of the federated system. This instance is for DJs so Would imagine that mostly DJs will be drawn to it (although nothing prevents others from signing up). In that respect it's a community but not one where you can see everyone by default, only if they choose to post :)

@Martin_J Thanks for the questions by the way, this allows me to add some info on the @tipsandtricks account for newcomers.

I've added something about the instance directory. It's opt-in only and you can change that setting in your profile preferences.
