on the subject of today's discourse, one must note that while MLK did a lot to advance the cause of PoC rights, so did the Black Panther Party. revolution is rarely a pretty business, but strength (as shown by BPP) shouldn't be confused as hatrid.

fighting for freedom is not the same as hate, much like someone who is frustrated saying "fuck cis people" is not necessarily an expression of hate either, but instead simple frustration.

the way to advance trans rights is to be out, be proud, and be able to defend yourself, which is why I would like to see an LGBT-oriented club which teaches various tactics (martial arts) and tools for self defense (gun safety). or put differently, to be a freedom fighter, you must be willing and able to actually fight. that's where the disconnect is in the movement right now in my opinion.

ok thanks for attending my TED talk.
@kaniini
Gun safety? Do you support gun rights? Just curious hehe
@kaniini yeah im extremely not here for that lib anti-gun nonsense and wish i had the time and money to afford Gun's and Gun's Training
@kaniini oh no wonder you muted the thread fuckin laurelai showed up  who do i call to get obama to come back from the grave and take her guns
@anna

I wouldn't say I am pro-gun per se, but I recognize that we live in a world with guns and therefore I believe marginalized people can be empowered by having access to the same weapons as our oppressors.

or, put differently, as long as guns exist I believe it is imperative that marginalized folks know how to acquire and use them.

if we lived in a timeline where nobody had guns (including cops) then that would be fine too.
@kaniini exactly its an all or nothing thing. id rather there were no guns but if they have to exist in... USA quantities i sure as hell dont want only the white cishets to have them
@anna I say arm the homeless in a completely unironic way. bet you the housing crisis gets solved really fucking quick if that happened.
@kaniini oh absolutely. also every black person should be given 3 guns

@anna @kaniini I feel like that'd be kinda counter-productive

why not just one really good gun

and maybe a dinosaur

@ben @kaniini ok but why not 3 really good guns

and something more useful than a bird

@anna @kaniini all I'm saying is

Zafirah is really cool

we need more Zafirahs

@anna @ben in all seriousness I think LGBT folks especially trans folks have it harder, going in the "wrong" bathroom could get you jumped for example. that's why I suggest arming them. stupid hillbillies will think twice if they know the average trans girl is packing.

@kaniini @anna can we just train all trans people in Mesmer magic

There's a mission in Guild Wars 2 (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/A_Meeting_of_Ministers) where Queen Jennah gets stopped by some white mantle and she just points at them and they die

A Meeting of Ministers - Guild Wars 2 Wiki (GW2W)

@kaniini @ben not exactly mutually exclusive groups, nor is comparing oppressions ever a useful exercise
@kaniini @anna do you mean "a country with guns"? I think the majority of the world (including my home country) has stricter gun laws than the US for example. From Wikipedia:

"The only countries with permissive gun legislation are: Albania, Austria, Chad, Republic of Congo, Honduras, Micronesia, Namibia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Senegal, South Africa, Switzerland, Tanzania, the United States, Yemen and Zambia"

@lidar @anna nope. the state is an oppressor too. I mean a world where guns exist.
