@PonstantCain Welcome here ^^
@Nocta hey, thanks 😀 so, what do you guys do around here?
@PonstantCain Do you mean on the fediverse (mastodon and other federated social networks) or on lesbiab.space specifically ?
@Nocta well yeah, just deleted facebook, so this is kinda new to me

@PonstantCain

Oh okay. If you tried twitter with twidere it's a bit the same thing.

I'll try to find you a "get started guide".

Basically you can
1) see "public" messages posted by people on the local timeline (lesbiab.space only) and the federated timeline (other instances of mastodon, pleroma, etc... connected to lesbiab.space) or see the messages of people you follow on your home timeline.
If you're on the web interface, see the menu top left

@PonstantCain

2) You can follow, be followed by, block and mute people. If you don't want to be followed by anybody, you can set your account to "private" in the settings : people who ask to follow you will appear in the "follow resquests" in the "get started menu" (you can access it by clicking on the three lines in the top left menu) ans you can accept or deny them. By default you accept anyone automatically

@PonstantCain

3) You can obviously post messages (they're called "toots") with different level of confidentiality :
- public will appear on local and federated timeline, your profile, and home timeline of people who follow you and be seen by anyone
- not listed is the same but doesn't appear on federated and local timeline
- private will only be seen by people who follow you
- direct messages will only be seen by people you mention

@PonstantCain

4) In a message, you can mention people by writing "@theirLogin" (including people outside lesbiab.space), you can add links, and you can join images, gifs, or video. If you do, don't forget to write a description for them underneath so that anyone can know what it is (for example people with screen readers). You can (and should if it's "NSFW" etc...) hide images by default (people will have to click on it), and you can (and should) put CW for your messages.

@PonstantCain

5) You can answer people's toots, it will automatically mention the people in the conversation. You can click on a toot to see the conversation, in "tree" order (a message answering an other messge will appear underneath, then a message written after another one and answering the same message will appear underneath)

There's subtleties about who can see a message on their home timeline, and other stuff, but you have the main lines.

@PonstantCain

Feel free to interract with people as long as you don't be a jerk (or homophobe, transphobe, racist, ...), respect your instances rules ( https://lesbiab.space/about/more ), and have fun ! ^^

You'll learn more by using it, and if you have questions feel free to ask.

Don't hesitate to look into the settings menu.

Lesbiab Space

A Mastodon instance by and for lesbians 💜 See rules and guidelines for more informations.

@PonstantCain

One last thing : in the web interface you can reorganise the columns, delete them, add new ones, and you have some settings for them, click the icon on the top right of a column to see them. It's a detail but it can enhance your exdperience. There's also a list system but I'll let you discover it if you want.

Sorry for the dump of info, take time to process this and just try things ^^

@PonstantCain Also, be gay, it's important :D
