aylaRed Mage is such a weird job insofar as at level 70 it seems really simple and has a very basic rotation.
And then you look up guides for it and there's so much situational knowledge you need to get the most out of it
And also the optimal rotation means you're going to be using displacement and corps-a-corps on cooldown, which means you're gonna be flipping around the arena a lot

@ladyboss yeah I saw yr thread on twitter and I'm not really sure how to approach a conversation like this other than to say that I think it's messed up that the structure of the game incentivizes optimization in this way. Idk how WoW was bc I never played it but it seems more and more like xiv is headed down that path esp with the onset of Ultimate raids
@ladyboss and like, i wanna be clear, I dig into this stuff just because I enjoy Big Number, not because I like using parsers to bludgeon people's self confidence or because I wanna feel better in some way.
