Does anyone have any resources about scriptwriting for audio plays/drama podcasts? Preferably stuff aimed at a beginner who hasn't written scripts before.

The BBC still does radio drama, so they have other resources there, too.

BBC - Writing Radio Drama - Writers Room

@yam655 Awesome, thank you muchly for the link.

@Nezchan

There's also http://www.19nocturneboulevard.net/ which has both well produced audio drama as well as an audio blog talking about writing and podcasting.

It's basically run by a single person, and she somehow managed to write, record and produce full-cast audio drama with sound effects, etc.

It looks like she's not getting new stuff out anymore. (She changed day-jobs. I know she tried Patreon to see if she could do it full-time.) Still, there's a lot of old material there.

19 Nocturne Boulevard - home of great audio drama

@yam655 I'll check into that too. Much appreciated.

@Nezchan

I did some research once in my own attempt at an audio drama script. Just trying to track down the research that I apparently totally failed to put in a convenient blog somewhere.

Radio Drama Revival is a podcast that aspires to the radio drama format. They also have a lot of resources listed.

That BBC link I gave didn't reference the juicy bits I wanted to give you, so I went looking for it. I've still not found it, though.

Radio Drama Revival

@Nezchan

http://www.irdp.co.uk/ was created by a now-defunct organization, but contains articles and an extensive collection of links.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/arts/features/howtowrite/radio.shtml has a stupid site design, but does seem aimed at the first time radio script writer.

At one time I found a BBC radio author that wrote a whole series of articles about writing an episode for radio. They changed their site and broke their links, though, and I can't recall enough details to Google it.

Good luck!
