mber@wintgenstein They do. Calvinism is the grandfather of modern white evangelical Christianity. So the modern religious right complaining about gays and video games and that newfangled jazz music ruining the youth, that's the ideology of Calvinism rearing its ugly head by trying to kill everything fun.
Jason Scheirer@wintgenstein of course, it made its way through puritanism on the way, which got rid of a lot (but not all!) of the predestination stuff and added a streak of persecution complex (because if we can't impose our religion on all of England, we're oppressed!!!) before making its way to the US and becoming ingrained in every sect of American Christianity.
