I'll need to move the primary database server soon, to a machine with twice the disk space, but I definitely do not enjoy the idea of doing that πŸ˜…
@Gargron shipping it saturday night, what else could go wrong.
@estebanz01 It's not like I can "go home" from Mastodon anyway
@Gargron set up new machine as a slave replica, wait until binlogs are caught up, then cut over the the new master :)
@UberGeek I know. I've done it before. Thanks.

@Gargron um, ok, being mostly jocular, since I figure you know what you're doing, already.

And, it's never "just that easy", either :P

@UberGeek Mostly it's just a high-stress high-risk procedure. And no way around downtime, as after the failover I need to change configs on all machines that connect to it.

@Gargron yeah, it's never "fun" doing that sort of thing. Almost (On a smaller scale) of whenever I run an upgrade on mastodon.

Thankfully, not at the multi-server model yet here.

@Gargron @UberGeek iirc, rails recently gained a feature to help with changeovers, but I can't recall exactly how. Something like multiple connect support
@Gargron
oof πŸ’¦ all that can be said to that is good luck πŸ˜”β€‹
