@FASA_Andrew_1879 I'd probably find the answer somewhere on your profile, but will 1879 setting be connected to ED/SR or is it just kind of spiritual successor thing?
@goblinrogue 1879 is a direct linear successor of Earthdawn, and takes the place of Shadowrun in the FASA cosmology, what with SR having been sold to Topps/Catalyst twenty years ago. There are easter eggs and links between the two. For example, the Dragons chapter of the 1879 GM Companion just went to lockdown, and it includes Alamaise.
@FASA_Andrew_1879 I'm glad to hear it! I hope you guys will put back punk in steampunk, and bring out social tensions like you did in SR. I didn't know I want the Difference Engine with elves (ok, I want it more with orcs, let's be real) and dragons but apparently I do now.
@goblinrogue
Social conflict and class warfare get an actual mechanic. You could play out The Paradise or Penny Dreadful if you liked.
@FASA_Andrew_1879 Game mechanics actually supporting the themes brought up in the setting description always make me happy!
@goblinrogue
And there are orks, although we call them snarks for the Lewis Carroll reference, so you could have a snark Byron (Engine hacker).
@goblinrogue
Check out the blog at fasagames.com - there's mechanics explanations, essays on the game world, and actual play transcripts.
@FASA_Andrew_1879 Oh, I will, thanks! (Funny how ED was the first role-playing game I've ever played almost 20 years ago and now I'm talking with a FASA employee.)
