Tyler@goblinrogue yep that's the case. You can follow across instances as long as you have the instance name [email protected] vs. [email protected]. you can add your various locations to the meta data on you profile to help direct people to where you are

sev@goblinrogue that's one way to do it - I have three accounts I use for three different purposes.
Some third-party Mastodon clients will let you read the public timeline of servers you don't have an account on, which can be a way to participate without actually having an account on the server.
Other ways to see people on other instances: the federated timeline (which can be a firehose of information) and searching on a hashtag.
