So a project staffer turned in notice yesterday. And rather than hiring from outside, they offered me a project supervisor position. It makes sense. I've been there for almost six years, I know what we do, how and have ideas to improvenit. Really, it's a solid idea on paper.

Of course they couched it in all kinds of backhanded compliments, as they do.

"This position usually requires a degree, so we'll have to be mindful of how we position you." Thanks.

It does mean becoming a salaried employee instead of hourly. A pay raise of some kind. And I'd been thinking about how I'm not challenged enough at work.

It also means giving up certain parts of my current job, the typing and data entry.

But I think the worst of it is that I'm...scared? Anxious? Already sort of regretting saying yes.

I had planned to look for a new job over the holidays, see. Just to get out. Six years in one place is a long time.

But I said yes. Fuck why?

@darkersolstice There's no reason you can't still look for other opportunities. It could give you ammunition to use in negotiations, and if you don't like the position, you might end up with something you like better anyways.

@lawfulgoodness yeah, but like. I have not had function to look for other jobs, before this. Between training and picking up tasks, I doubt any will become available.

Can you get in touch with a recruitment agency or two? My experience with those has been pretty solid, and they will do most of the work other than writing a resume and attending the interview.

Plus, if you hadn't said yes you'd probably still be in the same boat- no mater how much free time you have, job hunting is still too draining to get it done easily or quickly

@darkersolstice I feel ya. Been doing customer service in retail now for over 7 years, and I'm so tired of dealing with the public. "Why am I here again?" and "But how could I possibly start over? All that experience down the drain."
