Out of curiosity, do y'all prefer in-person or online TTRPG sessions?

I personally am partial to online via Roll20, because my players and girlfriend are in different states than me, everyone can draw player icons for themselves and easily edit their sheets, and as DM I can have a lot of fun with sound effects and music and it makes homebrew so easy.

How about you?

@CyrodiilPhantom In person, hands down. There's stuff you just can't get with online play, even with video chat.

Plus I can't cook my game-mates dinner if they aren't in the same space.

@CyrodiilPhantom I've tried really hard to make several Roll20 campaigns work, and they just haven't. 1 Pathfinder, 2 Shadowrun, my as GM and me as player. It might be more due to the limited time that I had available to play (which is why I couldn't find a local group due to commute times), but I just haven't had any luck with Roll20.
@CyrodiilPhantom I tend to play over discord most of the time, cuz all my friends live far away from me
@CyrodiilPhantom I like both, but if it's online I prefer either text-only (e.g., over IRC or the like) or voice+video. Voice only feels awkward.
@CyrodiilPhantom In person, definitely. I mean, how are you supposed to share sweets and a pizza online?
