Ben Wheatley is working on a Rebecca remake to be released next year.
@saltycoffee why in the world

@gebargel That was my initial reaction also. Given how many times people have tried (and fallen short) to make a better adaptation than Hitchcock.

But if anyone could at least divine an interesting take on the material, Wheatley I think, is among a few directors today that are practiced enough with psychological horror to pull it off. Here's hoping....

@saltycoffee I have to watch more Wheatley. I'd like a Guadagnino remake maybe? He has proven by now that he can do pretty much anything
@gebargel I haven't seen his Suspiria remake yet. How is it?

@saltycoffee um

I don't really know? I saw it last night, but I haven't sorted out my thoughts on it yet. It's really good and is definitely worth watching, but I can't really hold it against anyone if they don't like it

@saltycoffee I'm gonna write out my thoughts about it soon tho.
@gebargel Have you seen the original? The Dario Argent one?
@saltycoffee not yet, I didn't want to expect anything going into the new one
@gebargel I imagine you'll feel the same ambiguous huh after it lol although, as I understand, Guadagnino didn't just recreate Argento's film. But it sounds like he captured the eerie horror of it.
@saltycoffee the new one is less eery and more fucking disturbing, and also very very very brutal. like, really cruel stuff at times
