Was Robespierre a comrade? What y'all think? I'm thinking he may have been a figure that potentially could've been, but either had never been exposed to libertarian ideas, or because of his class position the incentive structures were such that he could only conceive of liberation being a gift to the people from a class of pure and moral masters, such as himself.
@patorpatorius I haven't researched enough about the French Revolution myself to make a valid argument one way or the other. But historically it's seems to usually be the latter. Once the "ushers of the revolution" take power they always try to find a way and cement it. Once the power shifts so that the leader is in power, it's shifted enough. that's why oftentimes after revolution anarchists are the next to be offered up to the wall.
