I never understood the rivalry between users of the Emacs and vi (#editorwar). I always used #vim in the last years maybe it is time to give #emacs a try.

Indeed I will write my thesis in #latex with emacs in the next four weeks.
Does anyone have suggestions/tips/tutorial about emacs with latex?

@ragazzonoioso

Emacs's latex mode has a ton of features to make life easier (e.g. easy inclusion of Greek characters). For equations, it also has image preview, which is incredibly handy.

I would also second @kaushalmodi suggestion. Just author in Org mode and export to LaTeX. You can add LaTeX lines wherever needed in the Org mode document.

I will report my opinions in the next days about my feeling about emacs.

Day One: My first impression of emacs shortcuts is bad. They are easy to rember but it's hard moving and editing around in to files when I used in these years the shortcuts h-j-k-l, CTRL-O/CTRL-I, J, "daw", "dt.", "yf.", et similia. I understood vim normal mode is a drug.

Orgmode is amazing, I will delete the app #boostnote.

Spacemacs look good but I don't really understand its features.

@beetle_b @[email protected] @[email protected] I can't belive how much the #orgmode is amazing , maybe I have alredy wasted my life without it. 😱
