Honestly… on the whole the WoW community is legit terrible and has an insatiable need to play the victim.

Right now the new expansion came out and loads of people think it’s majorly flawed. That’s fine!

But the way the community expresses this is by acting as though the developers made an irredeemable soulless product just to spite them and steal their money. The lead developer is currently doing an AMA on Reddit of his own volition and is getting buried in deeply bitter and angry responses.

@webworm I don't think this is just WoW community. Generally this kind of toxic fan behavior has been getting worse and worse as of late. It's very disheartening to watch.

@Zeta78 It’d be a bit reactionary and ahistorical of me to say “reddit has enabled a culture of outrage, entitlement, and victimisation within game communities” but… it definitely feels that way a lot of the time?

It’s frustrating, especially when the seed of a community temper tantrum was a valid concern.

@webworm Yeah, I don't want to generalize or point fingers, but it does seem like certain online communities have been more of a breeding ground for this sort of thing than others.
