So I had a customer come through my line yesterday and ask, "So why doesn't your pharmacy drive-thru grab allow for people to buy necessities like OTC meds like [competitors A & B] do? I had to come into the store with a sick child!"

Me: "I don't know why. I can ask them."

Me, thinking to self: "You only bought pepto bismol for kids, which if s/he is sick isn't going to do fuck all except maybe alleviate symptoms a little? There are tons better options. Also, you absolutely did not 'have' to bring your sick kid into the store! You could go to our competitors if it was that fucking important to you."

Me, this morning with severe nausea and upset stomach: "If your kid got me sick because you had to make a point about the inconvenience of having to pick up inadequate OTC medicine..."

Like, there wasn't anything to help the kiddo keep hydrated and nothing of the standard "Child is sick" fare in her cart.

Also, I have a feeling "necessities" meant all the crap she had in her cart, none of which is near the pharmacy and our pharmacists and techs are not your personal shoppers. We do *a lot* for our customers already and I'd be shocked if they turned this customer down for *just* one little thing like this.
Basically, customer entitlement is one hell of a drug apparently.
