For those playing along, follow the update instructions for mastodon 2.5.0. Took me about 20 minutes to upgrade. No issues at all (knocks on wood)

@jerry This release leaves out the mention of the git fetch/stash/checkout instructions. I remembered to do those but for newbies they won't know

@Gargron @kenzo @jerry Nah, those were in the release notes IIRC, I followed them step by step because I couldn’t do everything by memory. I’m better at it know so I got my rhythm.

@trayofbees @kenzo @jerry I wrote the notes so I would know if I'd included git checkout in them. Maybe you're thinking of the general upgrading documentation

@Gargron @trayofbees @kenzo I've been wondering whether it makes sense to try to script updates on my server... I think there may be too much variabiltiy in update steps between releases, though

@jerry @Gargron @kenzo So far so good on 2.5.0 - images take a little while to grab but that’s because there’s a ton of other jobs doing things with the I/O right now

@trayofbees @kenzo @jerry Right, I only mentioned that because it wasn't on the master branch so normal instructions wouldn't have worked.
