Alonealastalovedalongthe@DayGloChainsaw Except that the permanence is an illusion, we want to believe the fantasy that the digital world is immortal because it helps us run from our own mortality. Every blog ends with an epitaph that reads something like "I am a little too busy right now to write, but I hope to get back soon!" and then eventually it goes down. Sure we have the internet archive, but we also only have the internet archive.

Immortality is overrated. Serious statement. The universe will undergo heat death in several trillion tears I'm told. Of course humans will be long gone by then, whether or not they ever come through with transferring individual consciousness to a digital platform. Which I doubt.
JMO, but life is a miracle, and death a necessity. I don;t want to last forever, I just want to be better than i was the day before until I die.
