@eli in the end we are at the mercy of our admins / mods to write and enforce the rules. Luckily you (and I) with a personal instance are safe from this kind of bullshit.
@robin @eli Unfortunately, if large instances decide they want to silence your whole instance, that's cutting you off from a large population of users. I think there needs to be a mindset that instances with more than say 1000 users should be split. I also think a 25:1 or less ratio of mods to not mods is not a bad idea.
@robin @eli Ideally people could export everything and move shop, and hopefully we'll get there. I think any mod being able to wipe a profile off their instance means that if someone leaves their instance and points their account on the old to the new one, a mod can make it so people can't find where the user went to. Ultimately it's a problem that's solved by "have a non-mastodon personal website where you declare your handles for your services" but it shouldn't have to be.
