if you're moving instances:

 In Settings > Preferences, you can export who you follow, and then re-import that into your new account

 the "Follows" count on your new account may be a bit lower than your old one - that's because you'll have to re-request locked accounts

 all those you used to follow will get a notification when you follow them!

 Under "Settings > Edit profile > Move" you can make it clear you've moved

(doing this bcs I've seen lots of those "hey I've moved accounts, pls boost" toots and have seen in the replies that many didn't know about these bits! and re-did my own bcs other toots I'd seen said some of these bits but not all)

@seta Good post! I didn’t know about the "Edit profile > Move" option. But are you refering to another version of the software? Apparently, your instance todon.nl runs 2.4.5, and so do I, yet I didn’t see that option, nor in the oncoming 2.5.0.
I am curious about it because I’m currently looking for ways to help people about how to migrate their accounts or how to create backup accounts easily.
