We dug our fingers
deep into plastic,

searching for heads
amid the wreckage
of old ships, buildings
and airplanes.

The two of us,
working, quietly:
she, five;
Me, older.

She took each one --
each tiny yellow
head discovered
in the bin
of abandonment --
and built a tower
of scowls and smiles
and surprise.

So I laughed
along with her
at the absurdity
of it all,

this remembering.

@dogtrax This is great! Keep writing poems!
@redbookworm thank you for the kind and encouraging words
@dogtrax "This" is remembering. The poem is "this", an artificial intelligence remembering, laughing, surprised, digging, searching building.
@tellio An archeological dig into Lego Box
@dogtrax Yeah, I got that. It's all about the embodiment, poem, memory, Lego faces, whatevs. They all have an intelligence to them.

@dogtrax

I hear it is hard to let go
When you've invested in LEGO.
Each kit an island
No longer free play land.

Rockets, fire trucks and such.
Loose pieces, not so much.
Match the picture on the box.
Let go. Let go! Free play rocks!

@dogtrax

I have a relative who has purchased shelves over time so as to display the completed kits built by himself and his children.

There is no bin of loose blocks, etc. in the house.

I am not sure I understand.

@Algot me, neither. A shelf just for made-Legos is completely beside the point. The point is the deconstruction of said objects and the box of stuff for making other stuff.

@dogtrax

Has your month off been relaxing?

I certainly hope so!

School soon...for you.
Have a great year.

@Algot It's been great. Lots of reading. Thanks. Getting my head (and heart) into school-mode. Appreciate the kind words to help me move into the new rhythms.
