#Kerala, India, is facing its worst floods in century with over 350 confirmed deaths in a fortnight. Property valued about INR 20,000 crore (USD 3 billion) has already been destroyed. The tragedy is still unfolding while over a million people are living in 4000 or so relief camps, and in need of immediate relief in terms of food, clothing, medical care, and, once the nature's fury subsides, rehabilitation. Humanitarian Aid International (HAI) is a fledgling Indian Organisation for Disaster Response and development. It aims to provide immediate relief (within 24-36 hours) and continued relief/support thereafter. It is donation plus volunteer based. Its founders are of solid background and repute; track record includes exemplary relief work done in Assam last year. HAI is working for #KeralaFloodRelief - already collected and delivered over two tonnes of food and non-food items. They are also organizing a medical camp from 23rd of August (that is, from today!) with 15 doctors and paramedics, but have a pressing shortage of cash needed for organizing expenses of the camp.
They continue to get material donations, but cash crunch is so severe that HAI had to refuse to a big pick up of relief material from Mumbai this week.
