Funny, they misspelt "sell things and track your every move - literally".

@alcinnz aye. It got this way through active malice, rather than some sort of technological oversight or lack of leadership.
We were actively - and competently - moved in this direction by people with a massive hunger for data. JS satisfies that for now, but we're already seeing moves to embed the behaviour directly in the browser, rather than relying on JS. What a world.
