Recently I've been thinking a lot about startup culture, and its values. I don't want to be associated with it at all any more — I want to be the founder of an indie software business, not a startup. I care more about users than million-dollar valuations. And I want more people to feel the same way, choosing small-scale, human values over investment and growth. I tried to articulate this and wrote a thing about it: http://joshsharp.com.au/blog/fewer-startups-more-indies.html

@joshsharp Hear hear. I have a hard time too with the growth-at-all-cost focus. In my view a business that is not growing can be a great business. If you’re happy and comfortable selling 50 apple pies a week, then by all means stick to that.
@steveroy right! And you can still grow, you're not *giving up* growth, just doing it on your own terms, sustainably
