multiple people had diagnosed the fact that consolidation of "online" into 2 or 3 large commercial malls was fucking with our psyche, whether or not you ultimately want to branch out into smaller or more curated spaces is a separate question but clearly, Twitter and Facebook and their ilk have been making everything worse
i honestly feel that some of the jubilance playing out here over the last few days is mostly the newness of the experience, but a great deal of it is just the freedom of being in a smaller and less commercialized place
@helldude i remember taking the position on twitter of blocking each promoted, regardless of content. i was hoping they’d either stop sending them or the posts would get weirder / funnier. blocking had no effect. i’m not sure how they can afford to run this site but freedom from advertising is the ideal of online.
