People do not enjoy Battle for the Abyss as a general rule. I did, and as I have started reading Deathwatch books I see why.

A lot of things in Battle for the Abyss are silly charicatures of the various legions in the kill team, but ALL of the deathwatch books are just The Most Stereotypical Members of A Chapter doing a silly thing together.

It doesnt try to add nuance. Theres no Argel Tal stuff, there arent any rulebreaking Ultramarines for character depth in the #book #amReading #wh40klore

Even in a book like Savage Scars where actually all they do is win because they are the best, what actually happens is that they use time travel to duplicate themselves and the two survivors of the pact with the Eldar/Time Clone strategy just wander off into the webway assured that no one will ever hear their sagas. Like, they cant go home, they cant tell the other version of themselves. They are exiled to the webway. #wh40klore #warhammer #amReading @bookstodon

Theres a spectrum of #grimdark40k in the novels that range wildly. Sometimes its a silly Commisar Cain book where to make it grimdark you have to realize that the narrative is presented by his widow. Sometimes its The Damnation of Pythos and it has just mega depressing vibes and because the promise of progress has been restored in Dawn of Fire it can be hard for them to handle that, but, with #Genefather I felt like it failed really hard at that. #wh40klore

Vaya viaje divertido me han dado estos libros. Me han encantado las aventuras de Ibram Gaunt y sus fantasmas de Tanith.
He leído casi todas las novelas de warhammer 40.000 pero me resistía a estas. Pero se han convertido en mis favoritas. No aparecen Astartes ni grandes héroes ni guerreros de este universo pero me encanta como trata la vida de unos soldados rasos que son básicamente carne de cañon en un macrouniverso de guerra y supersoldados.
Espero que haya más prontito.
