In 1897 #onthisdate, George Moore, a long-time and well-known Seattle photographer, went out for his usual early morning walk and never returned. He moved to Seattle in 1870 and ran a series of successful studios, but friends said that by the autumn of 1896 he was nearly destitute. Newspapers reported that probably he committed suicide in a nearby forest or the waters of Lake Washington, but his body was never found. His death remains a mystery to this day.
