Little #Voidsong lore: The Crimson Insurgence were a group of daredevil martyrs who, in a last ditch effort to stop the first incarnation of the big bad Thaevarexys, infiltrated its cult, became part of its inner circle, & forged a soul-bond with it to siphon off enough of its power to weaken & imprison it.

The souls of the Crimson Insurgence have been trapped in amber shards to keep the power locked up & have gone a bit unhinged during their millenia of imprisonment full of eldritch whispers.

I finally had some inspiration for the void-warped entities my party is going to bond to become demigods imbued with some of the power of the big bad.

We have a fallen angel who wants to fight the gods, an archdruid of the old ways who completely gave over to primal instinct, a once kind trickster archfey now turned entirely self-serving & scheming to take over her host's body, & finally a genius artificer & master manipulator who was the mastermind behind the Crimson Insurgence. #Voidsong

(For those not yet initiated into #Voidsong, it's a cosmic horror story, so the Elder is an ancient starspawn emissary spreading its corrupting influence across Faerûn, hoping to open a portal to the Far Realm so they can turn everyone into starspawn and thus make them equal, erasing suffering from existence. The central story of the first half of the campaign revolves around artifacts that act as beacons of corruption, and finding out what purpose they serve.)

The next #Voidsong arc is gonna be incredible. We've got seafaring adventures to Chult, a chase by a dragon turtle hopefully resulting in the party having to get creative to make it safely to shore, dinosaurs in the jungle, a ruined estate touched by extraplanar forces, breathtaking vistas, an ancient flooded temple, and finally some answers to the central mystery of the first half of the campaign - who is this Elder the party has been squaring up against? #dnd

I'm tentatively debating to ask the #Voidsong gang if we want to switch to #pf2e because I think it'd be more fun for us given the many customization options and the more impactful higher level abilities.

To get a better feel of what character creation on higher levels is like, I made the secondary villain of the campaign, and holy shit she's terrifying now 😱 She's a void cleric, strong focus on demoralizing abilities, and I wouldn't want to go up against her.

Alrighty, #dnd task list for our upcoming first session of #Voidsong:

- finish the super secret map
- grab monster sheets
- pick quest rewards
- find / make some random roll tables in case I need to spruce up the session a bit
- expand music selection*

(* I used to have a huge one, but I didn't back it up so I lost it when my previous computer died. Don't be like me, kids, always back up your stuff!)
