Mandell Creighton used (in the 1880s and 90s) to write a magazine column about places in England.
Here is #Lutterworth in 1879, engraved by Fred Whymper.
Famously, John Wycliffe was a vicar at Lutterworth Church.
When i processed this image with #GIMP last month for the Web site i thought i’d done it before; i since found it in the magazine, but i had not scanned it.

William H. Seward (1801 – 1871) was Secretary of State from 1861 to 1869; after he retired he began writing an account of his travels, but after he died his wife Olive Risley Steward took over.
The paper was mottled with brown foxing; i used the mono mixer in #GIMP, reducing the green channel, to get rid of it.

1744, hand coloured.
Had a colour management problem with this one and may redo it, the blue came out much too strong. Not used to working with multiple monitors.
