So, aside from the occasional bohemian #vanlife people, the bulk of #vanlifegrind is made up from large, plastic white campervans. Satellite dish on top, bikes on the back. Typically two babyboomers, one wearing white leggings, the other a zip-off-pants, both wearing crocks.

No contact, at most a grunted "llo". Watching TV inside.

The worst annecdote was such a van pulling up next to me. At a pretty riverside on the foot of a cliff. Satellite dish turning. And turning. And turning. Van drove to the other side of the parking. Dish turning more, and more. Annoyed and loud voices from inside. They then drove off, presumably to a spot with better reception.

I travel through Europe in my Volkswagen T3 van. What we don't often see, on social media is the dark side, the grind-side of #vanlife. I'll be posting some #vanlifegrind.

It almost always looks romantic, Instagram-polished, happy and clean. The bulk, however, is boring, hot, packed asphalt, stressed, depressing and grimy.
