I originally intended it to be an analysis of 3 failed institutions during the 2022 cycle: Utah Debate Commission, The Dignity Index and UDP However, I found that my #utdem thoughts would exceed the Trib’s 600 word commentary limit. Here's what I cut from the op-ed: #utpol
The Utah Debate Commission was an exercise in futility this year, even more so than previous years. They failed to hold primary debates for the Republican party.
I wrote this commentary about the failures that @UtahDemocrats made this year, and what regular #utdem need to do to be viable in 2024 and beyond. #utpol

Brett Garner: Utah Democrats must learn from 2022’s failures

Brett Garner writes that Utah Democrats must learn from 2022’s failures

The Salt Lake Tribune
This is legal but it shouldn't be. This is the second appointment for the Utah GOP following #2022Elections. The other was House District 1 with Rep. Joel Ferry. This is done so that the seat stays with the party of the resigning legislator, and instead of district-wide voters picking their rep, the party does it. In two years, if the person runs for election, they're an incumbent. It's an electoral scam and shouldn't be allowed. #utpol #utdem #utgop #electoralscams

Rep. Adam Robertson is resigning from the Utah Legislature weeks before the 2023 legislative session starts. Robertson was reelected in November after running unopposed to represent House District 60. The Utah County Republican Party announced Wednesday night that it had received Robertson’s resignation.
