An absolutely incredible video by @tomscott about the ESO E-ELT, touching on observational astronomy, interferometry, and a behind the scenes look at VLT-I / GRAVITY on the way. Just the kind of video I love watching every now and then to reinvigorate my passion for astronomy.
Especially recommended for any folks taking their undergraduate astronomy modules ( #uniofexeter PHY2030 folks, looking at you 😉).
Years ago, while I was a PhD student, I used to make #astronomy videos for the #Physics department at #uniofexeter. I did this for two reasons: first the sheer joy of recording the raw footage and crafting it into a cohesive, (hopefully) professional looking video, and to communicate the incredible science we did to the world. Sadly, as so many things do, this took a back-seat when things got busy and ,aside from a few single events, we never really got back to it.
