@headword @ilusenn
i actually made a pixellish font additionally with that (caps to toggle normal typing and tendrilis, like literally, poor are phones using shift/caps for starting sentences - not my fault).
also expanded that internationally and added few emojis/unicode too cuz why not ;p

enjoy :-)

I have been having great fun taking #Japanese hiragana and making a #cursive #alphabet #conscript with it! It is very loopy and fun to write. I included characters for some common words (the, and, and so on) and also some letter abbreviations, etc. It gives me a writing outlet at work without roman letters jumping into people's eyeballs. I was using #Tendrilis, and I still love it, but I wanted a cursive option. I've already written pages and pages and am very pleased with my new alphabet toy.

Tendrilis has a phone application now!

Thank You again to @blinry for drawing our attention to this aesthetically pleasing writing system.

Tendrilis Comprehensive Guide + Font

Tendrilis is a constructed script or writing system that is designed to look like vines. Tendrilis replaces the Latin alphabet and you can use it to write in English or any language that uses primarily the Latin alphabet.I created Tendrilis for my own creative project, and would love to share it to everyone who wants to use it for journaling or creative projects, tattoos, art, embroidery, roleplaying, books, secret messages, or anything else you can think of!This PDF guide includes the alphabet, numbers, punctuations, everything you need to start learning to write in Tendrilis.Update #1: I also created a font for typing in Tendrilis in documents or design apps.Update #2 (30 Mar 2025): I created a better Tendrilis font (v2) that's easier to use.Update #3 (9 Apr 2025): You can now use Tendrilis design app: https://www.tendrilis.app/Update #4 (23 Apr 2025): I've updated the guide with 4 new advanced Tendrilis variations: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.Update #5 (28 May 2025): I've added a Make Your Own Tendrilis Alphabet Template, and Journal Templates.Feel free to use it for anything you'd like, but please don't claim it as your own creation or try to sell this guide or font for profit. Thank you 🫶🌿More Tendrilis content: https://www.tiktok.com/@imadetendrilis

Apparently somebody - @quanten - did a #Tendrilis font

https://gitlab.com/quanten/tendrilis-font

It defies a bit the point of being a naturalistic alphabet, but it's nice that it exists, I guess.

This system could easily be expanded to work with diacritics as well. I've quickly sketched some possible shapes. Many diacritics work well in their usual form (dot, umlaut/diaeresis, acute, macron, breve), while others can be changed slightly to fit the aesthetic (grave, circumflex, caron, stroke, tilde, cedilla).

I see, I missed ogonek and comma. Maybe they could be the same shape as cedilla? Does any language distinguish between these?

Yesterday @blinry boosted a toot about the #Tendrilis writing system into my feed (https://corneill.es/@ilusenn/114039121419799761) and I really liked it.

To learn reading it, I created a computer font of it: https://gitlab.com/quanten/tendrilis-font.

It's a pretty rough first version and there are probably a lot of font shenanigans (ligatures, etc.) to explore.

Tendrilis is way prettier on paper, but I could also imagine some solarpunk computer interfaces using it.
