I volunteer for a national organization. We launched a project mid-December (!) & agreed to biweekly updates, but I notified the coordinator of my mother's death and funeral that same week.

Today I got a message from national scolding me for failing to provide a timely update.

THE UPDATE WAS THE BLINKING "I AM OFF GRID FOR MY MOTHER'S FUNERAL." That's my update. That's it. I have not worked on your project BECAUSE DEATH OF A LOVED ONE IS A THING.
