Italy, a key player in the creation of the European Union, born from the rejection of nationalism after World War II, has gradually turned away from federalism.

Today, the shift has led the Meloni government to deny the legacy of Spinelli and De Gasperi, Italian fathers of modern Europe.

Doveva essere una comunicazione al Parlamento importante, su un argomento estremamente serio e delicato. Invece sarà ricordata solo per un diversivo retorico: la citazione strumentale di un passo del Manifesto di Ventotene con cui il presidente del consiglio ha deliberatamente "spedito la palla in tribuna", buttandola in caciara.
C'è poco di che sorridere, ma tant'è.
