Community members turned out in large numbers to protest #seismictesting, also known as #seismicblasting, for years in south-west #Victoria.
They cited concerns about the impact on marine life, including endangered #whales.
#WoodsideEnergy this week announced it would start #seismictesting for its #Scarboroughgasproject off Australia’s west coast, before reversing the decision in the face of a legal challenge from #FirstNations at #Burrup Peninsula.
The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority is examining a proposal for seismic testing in the #OtwayBasin in #BassStrait.
Seismic testing is planned from #Manly to #Newcastle.
