Not even when I first started out with cartridge #razors and foam from a can. I'm using a #safetyrazor and I'd say my technique isn't half bad. That soap is killing my face. But I guess that's what you get when you buy from a brand that would rather sell you their expensive canned #shaving gell.

Picked up a RazoRock Game Changer .68-P with the bulldog handle and first impressions, it's a great replacement (paired with Astra Platinums)!
