“We’ve already turned health insurance and secure retirement into privileges that you only get if you get that brass ring job. And we shouldn't do that with child care too.
We shouldn't make the same mistake. We need to be decoupling these fringe benefits, quote unquote fringe benefits, basics that you need to live like health care, like a secure retirement, like child care, like paid family and medical leave. Those should not necessarily be attached to your job.”
