Rheinpromenade Düsseldorf - Düsseldorf, Germany

Rheinpromenade Düsseldorf with The Rheinknie Bridge and Rhein Tower

The Rhine embankment promenade, designed between 1990 and 1997 according to the plans of architect Niklaus Fritschi, is trendy.

No wonder the promenade between the old town and the river has so much to offer: balmy breezes and spectacular sunsets, restaurants with a view of the Rhein River, Rheinkniebrücke over it, and the Rhein Tower in the background, a flight of steps, and also the city beaches for lingering together in summer.

The Rheinknie Bridge connects the Düsseldorf district of Oberkassel on the left bank of the Rhine with the districts of Carlstadt and Unterbilk on the right bank. Not far from the Rheinkniebrücke, on the right bank of the Rhine, is the state parliament and the government district of North Rhine-Westphalia. On the left bank of the Rhine to the north are the Rhine meadows in front of Oberkassel, where one of Germany's largest funfairs is held once a year.

The Rhine Tower, Dusseldorf's most recognisable landmark, was created by architect H. Deilmann and built between 1979 and 1982. It is situated on the edge of the city centre's southern district at the entrance to the Media Harbour, directly next to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament and the WDR. At the top of the tower, at a height of 172.5 metres, is QOMO, a restaurant featuring 144 seats that rotates around its axis once every 72 minutes.
