The Restless Mind: A curious little item I came across on Portencross Beach near West Kilbride on the Clyde coast on Saturday. It appears to be a memorial for the cognitive neuroscientist Professor Jonathan Smallwood, who died recently at the age of just 50. Smallwood received his PhD from Strathclyde University in 2002, and amongst other things, pioneered research into the science of mind-wandering. I left it where I found it to continue its voyage.
